Uddjaure

Uddjaure is a lake in the municipality of Arjeplog in Lapland that is part of the main catchment area of the Skellefte River. The lake has an area of 249 square kilometres and is 420 metres above sea level. The lake is drained by the Skellefte River.

Lake Uddjaure was formed by an ice age glacier. The Uddjaure River flows into the lake from the south, while a smaller river flows out to the north. It flows into the Skellefte River at Höga Kusten through Älvsbyn, where it becomes a tributary of the Torne River.

Lake Uddjaure in Sweden

The Nurrholm fishing area is a 2200 hectare area in the western part of Lake Uddjaur, 15 km south of Arjeplogs. The area is characterised by its beautiful nature. It has a variety of habitats and species, and it is home to many rare plant species.

The area was established many years ago and has been designated a Swedish Wildlife Management Area, awarded the Certified Forest label for sustainable forestry practices. Lake Uddjaure’s fishing reserve is open to visitors all year round, but access to some areas may be restricted at certain times due to hunting or fishing restrictions.

Fish in Uddjaure – what can you catch?

The fishing permit is valid for the eastern half of Uljajaure. There are nice sandy beaches for swimming and playing. The grayling are mainly found in Uljajaure and below its outlet.
