The Merry Fisher 755 is a classic family cruiser. It has a hull with modern but balanced lines, which together with a few design details form a very harmonious and pleasing whole. Precisely harmoniously composed details add to the elegance that this boat leaves at first glance, skilfully hiding any structural concessions made in favour of greater functionality. The needle made of stainless steel frame with teak slats allows for quite easy boarding from the bow. At the very bow there is a large side compartment with a winch mounted on the transverse bridge of the warehouse and the associated remote control. The cover is asymmetrical, which makes it easy to open despite its large dimensions. The side facing upside down has a slight incline for a smooth passage of the anchor chain.

Description

When the average helmsman thinks of the ideal boat, he usually has a small family cabin cruiser in his head, which develops the speed of a motorboat and can comfortably host a family of four on a summer holiday. The aim is also to go fishing with friends, as is done with Pilothouse boats. The vast majority would agree to a boat with such qualities even before they see it, provided of course that it fits their finances.

The outboard engine in Merry Fisher 755 – Yamaha never-ending cooperation

The Merry Fisher 755 is powered by a four-stroke Yamaha F 150. Although the price does not stand out from the competition, Jeanneau is still a reputable manufacturer, so you will always catch a flaw rather than highlight all its qualities.

The bow cleats are very well positioned so there is no danger of jamming. Directly behind the anchor compartment, the cabin rises in a semi-circle shape to a height of about ten centimetres, which naturally increases towards the stern. In the middle of the cabin roof, there are windows which provide enough light in the cabin but also distract those who want to sunbathe on the bow.

The half-boards do not have a very raised dead zone, so the seemingly narrow alleyway seems even wider when you pass through it.

The superstructure, i.e. the wheelhouse, is fully glazed and the supporting pillars are painted black, which gives an even better visual impression. The windshield is one-piece, there is no load-bearing post in the middle, while the side glazing has smaller sliding windows. The wheelhouse roof is rounded with handrail recesses, a roof opening in the middle and solar panels. Descent to the cockpit is extremely simple and safe thanks to steps and railings in the upper cabin. Boat is for rent on Bolmen lake in Sweden.

Aft cockpit – Merry Fisher 755′ characteristic space to rest

Only the descent to the cockpit reveals all the charms of the Merry Fisher 755 and it is safe to say that the first impression justifies the name of the family cruiser, because there is really more than enough space and equipment to host the whole family on a few days’ cruise. On the left side of the cockpit, there is a large bench in L, so that one part leans to the left and the other one goes through the entrance to the wheelhouse. At the stern in front of the engine compartment, there is another bench with folding backrest, which can be used only when the engines are lowered into the water. Thanks to this, the shipyard has minimized the space loss caused by the engine housing and enlarged the cockpit. It is precisely such details that make the world’s biggest manufacturers always one step ahead of their competitors. The extension of the aft bench on the left and right side is removable, which makes the cockpit multifunctional, so it can be combined with seating or free space as required. This will be appreciated by all sailors who, apart from family weekends, also do fishing trips.

The back of the stern bench is about thirty centimetres high and provides excellent support, and on the right side, there is a door allowing access to the aft platform. The aft platforms are made on two levels, one of which is part of the hull, the other is slightly lower and on the right side, there are telescopic ladders with handrails. In conclusion, the overall impression of the cockpit is excellent thanks to the multitude of high-quality ergonomic solutions we expect from Jeanneau! In the cockpit, you should also pay attention to the multitude of welcome compartments, which leave more and more room for free movement, as all equipment is neatly arranged in the right places.

The wheelhouse or salon is extremely spacious and airy, which is largely due to the large glazed areas we mentioned earlier. All other ergonomic solutions are very simple and practical, making you feel like you are in the living room when you go inside, which is the purpose of any such cabin cruiser. On the left side, there is a large U-shaped bench, which when inserted in the middle part becomes a spacious additional berth for two people. On the right side, there is a boat galley in front of which there are a helmsman’s seat and the wheelhouse. Interestingly, the fridge is located on the left side, just next to the entrance under the couch, to get more space in the kitchen cupboard.

Interior of famous Merry Fisher cabin cruiser boat from Jeanneau

The position of the helmsman is the most attractive place on the boat, especially as it is very clear in all directions and has a comfortable adjustable seat. Under the skipper’s desk, there is a separate toilet with solid dimensions, with wooden doors giving exclusivity to larger and more expensive motorboats. In the bow section, there is a very spacious bed, which has moved to the left side because of the toilet on the right side, without losing comfort. You can live in a houseboat. In addition, Merry Fisher has many other useful compartments and handles so that all the essentials we carry on the journey can find their place, avoiding clutter, especially in bad weather. Although the Merry Fisher 755 is very handy, the emphasis should continue to be placed on stability, both when the vessel is moving at rest, where no changes are felt when transferring weight to the vessel, and in navigation.

Once onboard, the powerboat obediently and without any deviation follows the curve both on the slope and in the direction. If we add to this both the starting and power range of the engine up to 200 hp, I do not think we can have any objections to speed. The quality of the material, the interior and the entire boat are at the level we expect from Jeanneau.
